Some of these are free, others are for a fee. They have all helped me.

Keyword Research Tools I recommend (and use myself)

GTrends--this is a free tool using the Wordtracker database, along with Google Trends' data. It gives you information about traffic volume per keyword phrase, plus, it tells you how much competition exists in Google's database for your keyword phrase in question. Good tool and it's all free.

Market Samurai--This paid-for service is a one-time fee...you buy it, you own it. They have been offering a 40 day free trial, so you might want to give it a whirl. Market Samurai can do all of GTrends' tricks, plus a million (or so it seems) other functions, from assessing market competition, to PPC competition, cost of PPC campaigns, to organic listings and backlinks and where you can grab content for your site/blog...it's a great piece of software, and once you buy it, you're done. No monthly fees and great support.

Web Hosting Services

Host Gator is my number one pick for web hosting. I've tried other hosting services and have not found them to be as helpful or professional as Host Gator--plus, Host Gator's prices are affordable and competitive.

If you are interested in hosting more than a few domains, and have plans for building multiple sites, I recommend you look into a Web Hosting Manager (WHM) or "Reseller" account with Host Gator. For the price of hosting a few domains (per month) you can host unlimited domains, set your bandwidth and even offer to host other people's domains (and charge them money for it!) all from your WHM account.
